Typical English Bell Glass shape Ref TGEW p50 Glass cloches first used in France 1600 then 1629 in England. 1677 Square cloches. 1600’s Cold Frames used also from old windows. Loudons Art of Gardening 1950 shows Bell Glasses or ‘Crystal Bells’ from 3 inches to 8 inches in diameter. Corry & Co Trade price list of 1931 sold these as ‘Propagating Glasses’ in 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 inches.
